Week #4 done! This last week has just flown by! The more I learn, the more I feel like there is to learn! I think that's just a true fact about life. I love being a missionary!
Still no word about me leaving early to Australia! If I did leave early, it would be in only 11 more days! So soon! If not, I'll be here another 4.5 weeks. My teachers have been asking and asking, but no news yet! I need to be patient though. I know the Lord will do whatever's best for me! I just hope I don't find out that I'm leaving the day before I leave! That would be so crazy. I'm so excited, whatever happens!
This past Sunday I was made the District Leader for my district. A lot of other missionaries see being a District Leader and other leadership positions as a big deal or like some kind of promotion. But I try to always think of my farewell talk I gave before coming out here. Being in a leadership position is not a promotion and doesn't make you better than other people. It just means that you are to serve and bless and help anyone you can to come closer to Christ and see their potential. And anybody, regardless of position can do that. I am to be a missionary to other missionaries. I love everyone in my district and I'm trying to love and serve them all more. I love the scripture that says, "He who is chief among you, let him be the servant of all". I'm constantly trying to raise the bar and be a good example. It really is the little acts of service and kindness that make a big difference! I love my district.
In other news, I met this Elder from Brisbane, Australia who is going to be serving in Japan. I talk to him about Australia a bunch and I get so excited about it! I also got him to teach me a new "Aussie slang" word every day! His accent is so great. So today's Aussie slang word of the week is "whippersnipper"! Any guesses what it might be? Apparently a whippersnipper is a weed-whacker/edger/trimmer/ weed-eater thing. Whatever we call it in the US. Whippersnipper! Haha it sounds better with the accent. I think it's hilarious.
Anyways, I am still loving it here and eating too much food! I love having the opportunity to feel the spirit so strongly as a missionary and I know this church is true! This is Jesus Christ's gospel and I can't wait to share it with everybody in the Land Down Under!
Cheers!
